“ We live in Charlotte and had to go to Cary for business for the day. Driving back we stopped for gas in Burlington and I noticed the hwy sign say H....... BBQ. We were hungry but had already ate that morning. We didn't want a big meal. I tried to look up the website but it kept referring to the Mebane location. We did get to pull up the menu to look through. We decided to go inside even though they do have a drive thru. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a young woman and she asked if we wanted to dine in. We told her yes and she told us to wait a minute and we would be sat. As soon as the only server saw us, he greeted and sat us. It probably didn't take 2 minutes before we both knew what we wanted. He grabbed the usual pork plate and I opted for the combo of pork and Brunswick stew. First bite of pork BBQ and we knew! It tasted like heaven. I imagine when they pull the pork they add some of their vineger sauce to it as well because it didn't even need more sauce even though for personal preference I did add more. The Brunswick stew was amazing! The hush puppies were light and fluffy and served with honey butter. Fries are the slightly battered kind. Fried okra on point. The coleslaw is mayo based but has just the right amount of vinegar to keep it fresh. Remember when I started and said "We didn't want a big meal"? It was the perfect portion size for us but we ate everything bc it was so good! It was the best meal we've had in awhile. We already discussed making the drive back just to eat again! Thank you! We definitely wish y'all had one closer to CLT! ”
“ Tick another one off my NC BBQ bucket list ! Hursey’s OG location in Burlington North Carolina. Old school NC whole hog is definitely my jam. Loved everything about this place! Had a BBQ plate with slaw and baked beans and ordered an extra side of Brunswick stew. Highlights: the sauce here is amazing if you like vinegar based...it’s not watery like most of them and had a little kick to it, which I love. Great slaw and hush puppies...pretty much everything was on point here. The Brunswick stew was so good, especially after that disappointment I had the other day. They’ve been doing it since 1949 and I love, love, love the old school vibe here. Super friendly, amazing staff. 4.8 snouts! ”

“ LISTEN (OR READ)! This is one of my favorite places to have lunch. I happened to make it right before the lunch rush, but it didn’t matter. I ordered my food, and it was out and on the table in no time! The chicken was fresh and on point. The fries were also fresh. The waitress kept an eye on my hush puppies, and when I finished them, she brought me some more! After this delicious lunch, I enjoyed some banana pudding that could not have been better. All in all, if you’re looking for a restaurant the serves their customers with a smile, a family like atmosphere, great food, and excellent customer service; you’ll find it here at Hursey’s Bar-B-Q.
